Position Overview:

As a Power Engineer specializing in Energy Management System Control Algorithm Design, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance and efficiency of our EMS. You will collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams to develop advanced control strategies, algorithms, and models that our clients require. English reading & writing is a mandatory requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specifications for client requirements related to power and control engineering.
  • Algorithm Design: Develop control algorithms for the Energy Management System (EMS) to optimize energy usage, load balancing, and grid integration.
  • Work with software developers and system engineers to integrate control algorithms into our EMS platform seamlessly.
  • Implement SCADA systems, configuring and integrating hardware and software components.
  • Plan and coordinate project implementations, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project requirements.
  • Modeling and Simulation: Utilize modeling and simulation tools to assess the performance of control algorithms and refine them for real-world applications.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of control algorithms, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Test control systems to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Perform commissioning testing for EMS and SCADA systems, ensuring proper functionality and performance.
  • Participate in front-end design reviews for EMS and SCADA systems.
  • Documentation of implementation processes and procedures.
  • Document commissioning and testing processes for future reference.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for control algorithms, including design specifications, user guides, and technical reports.
  • Update and maintain documentation on internal Wiki platforms.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure successful implementation of control algorithms.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field.

Skills:

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Proven experience in designing control algorithms for power systems or energy management.
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, PSCAD).
  • Knowledge of power system components, grid integration, and renewable energy sources.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Location and Start Date:

The position will be based in the Acelerex office in Santiago, Chile. Immediate availability is preferred.
